Mine seems to be working correctly, but both seals are leaking fluid.

Just got back from the dealer & it looks like I'm joining the rack & pinion replacement club! Luckily I bought the extended warranty, as this job (including right control arm replacement) would have cost me about the same as the extended warranty! I was in last week after my power steering went. They replaced the power steering coolant lines (not covered). I went back in today as there is a leak & squeaky steering. Now it's the rack & pinion as well as the control arm. Even though I'm glad it's under warranty, I'm concerned about the future. I bought this 04 6 months ago & it only has 43k kms on it. I hope I don't have to go through this a few years down the road with no warranty!!!

Cheers

Ram 1500 QC 4x4: I have afluid leak in the area of the inner tie rod boots on the steering rack. It doesn't look or smell like power steering fluid, its clear and oily. Are rack and pinions typically filled(sealed) with an internal fluid that is separate from the power steering fluid? The power steering fluid resevoir is full and not losing fluid. Steering is still working fine. I'm stumped. Anyone have an idea?
