Default ima lift it!

Hey Dodge Forum! First time caller. Love you, love your show. [sm=icon_cheers.gif]

I've got a 2003 Dodge RAM 1500 QC w/hemi. It's all black with paint matched bumpers and mirrors.

I want to lift it. I've been talking to two different shops near me that do it. I'm trying to decide between these two setups and would appreciate any pics if you guys have either of them:

6" suspensionlift
22" wheels
37" tires

-or-

6" suspension lift
3" body lift
20" wheels
38" tires

I think if I could just see what it'd look like then it'd make the decision easy for me.

Thanks!

your gonna have fun buying tires for 22" rims! and why such big tires on an IFS? if you planned on lifting it, should have got a solid axle.

Thanks for the input. I bought the truck five years ago new, so I'm just working with what I already have. Can you please explain the difference it would make?

Thanks,

guys have 37's on their IFS and havent had problems, but anything over a 35" tire has been known to cause a lot of stress on your suspension. talk to hammer, he'll be able to give you a very detailed description. but in a nut shell on a IFS you really shouldnt go over a 35" tire, but like i said guys here have it. If i had a 4x4 i might push 36's like romeosoldier has but wouldnt want anything bigger because i for one care about the longevity of my vehicle. after this truck, hopefully ill be getting a 2500 and plan on a 10-12" lift with some 40's on her.

As my proxy (mmstar23) has correctly stated, wear and tear dramatically increases as the weight and rolling radius of a tire increases. You will without a doubt wear front end components faster with larger tires. Will you have a catasrophic failure on the road or trail? Maybe not, but your chances are much higher as you go larger than 35" on an IFS front end.
Now, I have done the mud & trail thing with guys who have 37's on their IFS trucks who have yet to have an issue, but it seems whenever someone has to get towed out off-road with major front end failure, the ratio of big tires on IFS front ends is extremely high...

A CV is nowhere near as strong as a solid front axle, even the relatively weak Dana's on the 2nd gen 1500's are infinately stronger than a CV:

Dodgenitto, I really like your truck! I was stuck between the black rockstars and the black monsters butdecided on the monsters. I'm curious to see what my truck will look like all blacked out with some dark tint.

I appreciate the advice on the front end components. I'll def think about that.

thanks
