What would towing have to do with it?? For goodness sake its a truck. Towing is a big part of what a pickup is made for.
This is not normal. Take it to your dealer and exercise your warranty.

I have your solution... When I first got my 07 it did the exact same thing..a long delay going into drive or reverse from park. I took it back to the dealership and they found that the transmission filter would suck air causing the problem.... New filter/problem solved and never returned. Hope this helps...

I am new to the Dodge family. Is it the 5 speed tranny? Mine is, and mine does the same thing. I asked the service dept. manager and he told me it was normal.

I'm pretty sure your Owner's Manual has a section on this.

YES I have a 2005 RAM 2500 QC HEMI. I have had that problem since about 20,000 miles. It has been in the dealer 5 times total I think. Finally after writing to DODGE Corp office and telling them its the torque converter but the dealer will not change the converter, Dodge called me and called the dealer and I took it back and at about 53,000 miles they finally put in a new torque converter and it works fine now. The problem with mine was after my truck sat for a couple hourse the torque converter would drain down. Mine got so bad I could actually get in my truck and start it and put it in gear and rev the engine and the truck wouldnt move.
