My Hemi hates that ethanol blend crap they use in the midwest. I go from 19 mpgfreeway to 14. That is with only a 10% ethanol blend. I cannot imagine what kind of crappy milage I would get with the 70% blend of E85 flex fuel. Given the choice, why would I pay the same price for ethanol blend as regular gas when it produces less mpg? $4 a gallon is bad enough let alone having to buy more blend to go the samedistance as gas. I pull 350 a tank on gas before I fill upand burn 18 gallons(19 mpg).To go the same distance on blend I have to burn 25 gallons (14 mpg). 7 extra gallons totalling $28 bucks. I don't think so...

e85 is cheaper than regular gas (10% ethanol).e85 85% ethanol, hence the 85 after the e. but i agree, the drop in mileage is not made up by the drop in price. and if you are dropping 20% efficiency with only 10% ethanol, there's something really wrong with your engine or something really wrong with your perception.

16 CFR Part 306-Automotive Fuel Ratings, Certification, and Posting
[/align][*]Octane[/b] decal – yellow background [*]Used for gasoline [*]Gasoline-Ethanol[/b] blends (10% max)
[ul][/ul][*]Alternative Fuel rating decal – Orange background [*]E85, E80, & E75 – minimum 70% ethanol
[ul][/ul]
[ul][/ul]
This is the Federal Trade Commission Automotive fuel rating. Basically two types of pump labeling is required.
[*]Fuels for “gasoline only†type vehicles [*]Alternative fuel vehicles [/ul]
The decals differs by vehicle type. Yellow decal for “gasoline only†vehicles and orange decal for alternative fuel vehicles. Ethanol[/b] blends between E10 and E85 (min 70% ethanol[/b]) are not addressed by the FTC rule.
This is an example of E85 fuel ethanol[/b] flex-fuel vehicles. Notice the 70% minimum designates this fuel can be used year around. During winter, E85 fuel will contain more gasoline (up to 30%) for assisting in cold starting.
Here is a response from the EPA related dispensing ethanol[/b] greater than 10%. It prohibits dispensing more than 10% ethanol[/b] in to vehicles designed for gasoline only.

The truck was 3 weeks old with 2700 miles on it. I ran 3 tanks of blend through it at freeway speeds traveling cross country before I got back to normal gas. Hand calculation did not lie. As soon as I started using regular gas again it jumped right back up to normal.
Peace....

I don't know Bones, that still doesn't sound right to me that it would run that bad with only 10% ethanol in it. i didn't know you could even find gas stations anymore that have straight gasoline. there's gotta be something messed up with your truck.
FLH77, they just didn't want to. It's added cost, and added complication. The Hemi is (in it's essence) a very simple motor, but it is also a purpose built machine. It's built for power. They threw green thinking and economics out the window with this thing. In fact the reason the thing is called a hemi is partly why it's so bad for fuel. that hemispherical head makes it great for power, but not so great for efficiency. I figured chrysler thought "hey, if they got a hemi, why the hell would they run e85?" and it saves money
