i don't know if that lifetime warranty is transferable. if they can get you the lifetime warranty on the used one, i'd take it. 4k miles really isn't anything. but $4k is.

Everything I've read says the lifetime warranty is for the first owner only, and cannot be transferred.

Regarding new, $19k is all I can really afford. I really don't think I'm going to be able to pick up a new '08 qc 4x4 hemi for $19k. Not that it will stop me from trying, but that's almost $20k off list.

Actually, does anyone know how to compute green slip. I think I could get one if I tried. And with green slip I believe the rebates still apply.

We'll I have been a Chevy guy since I first started driving. I just traded in my 01 silverado 1500 for a 2008 dodge. I got sick an tired of have ing to fight with Chevy to fix there problems. Silverados are known for going thru brakes fast and squeaky engines. I only had 90 thousand on my Chevy and it it was already falling apart. I took my truck into the dealer several times to have them fix the noise under hood and all they told me is that the silverado is known for this issue. Chevy also knows that there trucks go thru brakes fast. My father in-law is a truck mechanic who also says that he see this all the time.

I have also never had good customer service like I have with dodge. That to me is a big part of owning a truck. So far I love my new Dodge and the Hemi is awsome. I have notice good gas milage when the MDS kicks in geting the same with the hemi as I did with the chevy. Good luck to you and your truck buying

Here is my window sticker. I bought my truck new in March. I paid 22k. Even though I got 12k off sticker you can probably do even better. Especially when the 09's start hitting the streets. Good luck.

The 4x4 adds about $4k then, because the rest looks the same.

Just checked today's (Sunday) paper, full auto section as EVERYBODYis listing "Memorial Day Sales". You should have no issue finding a recent year 4x4 in your area within your budget. There are three dealerships within 30 miles of me and just at the closest one they list:
'06 2500 CTD Laramie 4x4, 29k miles - $26k (wish I was in a postion to jump on that one)
'05 2500 Hemi Power Wagon, 41k - $21k(wouldn't mind this one either)
'06 1500 Hemi SLT 4x4, 30k - $17k
'03 1500 Hemi 4x4 (no package or miles given)- $8995

Just to give you an idea on the going rate in Florida. Might help you in your shopping...

I have not heard of a lot of cracked GEN 3 dash boards.

Common GEN 3 issues I know of

Most concerning, C-Clip in differential
Some have issues with front brake rotors, I have a feeling this is due to driving conditions, I have not experienced this and at 30K
Rear pinion seal. My Jeep leaked, now my Ram has started.
Power steering pumps

If you get a new Ram all those issues are no big deal as they will be covered under the warranty. Every car/truck will have some issues. Based on my past experience this list is small in comparision, but I still contend that rear end is a bunch of BS.

One other thing to note, if you buy a new 08, at least without the 2.99 thing, at a minimum you can get 10K off sticker if the truck is 33K+ sticker.
