To let everyone know the filter was the problem. It is very important to get the grommet seated all the way I learned the hard way I just hope there is no permanent damage to the tranny. It seems ok but I will have to see.

Ron45640, I had the same problem happen to me yesterday.... I was going down the highway at about 65 mph and hit a small bump in the road and it felt like my transmission went into neutral... had to get to the side of the road, and it wouldn't go into any gear... I too had my tranny fluid and filter changed about one month ago at a service dealer... I would suspect they knew what they were doing, but....

I was curious if any permanent damage happened to your transmission?

Aren't you supposed to put the O ring in its spot and then put the filter on. I saw some where that if you put it on the filter first and then put filter on, it will most likely not be seated correctly like in your case? Only reason I ask is because I am getting ready to do mine in a couple weeks and have been going over the process.

Isnt there a small bolt that holds the flat filter in place so it doesnt fall out when you hit bumps?

^^ mine has one that holds the flat filter in. I also just reused the original o ring as the new filter didn't have one come with it and the original still made a good seal with the new filter. That was about 8k ago and I am not having any issues.
