Update on the Ram
Well, I'm gunna hold off on selling it for now. Diesel prices just hit $5.00 per gallon so my dad is going to park his Duracrap and drive the Ram. That means I gotta take out the Superchip and take off my dumped Cherry Bomb Extreme since it is way too loud for him. I'm kind of upset about replacing the muffler since I spent so much time finding one one that was extremely loud but still had a good sound. Tomorrow after my Advance Biology final, I will be ordering a Cherry Bomb Vortex Cat-Back System for it, SI/DO. Compared to what it is now, the Vortex should sound almost silent. I will definitely get a video of the Extreme before I take it off. Uploading it is a different story. I hate technology, but I'll still try to get a clip up here. As for the Superchip, it'll probably be going up on Ebay. I haven't decided on a price yet. If anyones interested, send me a PM. Its the 3715 for '03 Hemi and '98-'03 3.9L, 4.7L, 5.2L, and 5.9L
Even though diesel gas is more expensive, they get better milage. I would think that mile for mile it would be the same price or cheaper to drive the diesel....
Feel free to correct me if my math is incorrect:
city/highway combined
Ram
20gal x 13miles/gal = 260 miles
$3.75 x 20gal = $75
10,000 miles: 10,000/260 = 38.5 tanks x $75 = $2887.5
Chevy
26gal x 17miles/gal = 442 miles
$5.00 x 26gal = $130
10,000 miles: 10,000/442 = 22.6 tanks x $130 = $2938
The Ram's loss of mpg from losing the Superchip will be offset by the new muffler (I lost mpg from the Extreme) and the fact that my dad will be behind the wheel. I got 13 combined doing 80+ on the highway and agressive launches around town. His driving style is far from the same...

I guess I am a little confused. Your dad is parking his diesel to drive the Ram because of high gas prices even though it only costs him $50 more in gas for every 10k miles?
Every penny counts... $50 is $50. I can care less about what happens to the Ram cause the Jeep is more fun anyway. The Chevy is part of my dad's company's fleet which also consists of 2 F-350s, a Dakota, 2 Sprinter vans, a Caravan, an E-250, GMC Topkick 7500, an International 1900, International 4700, 2 F-800s and an F-900. That saved money, however insignificant it may be, can be used to help fuel the big trucks which in turn are able to make hundreds of thousands of dollars each year. Additionally, in the 2 years we had the Duramax, it has proved horribly unreliable. The only problem the the Dodge has had is some interior trim that fell off. If diesel prices drop, which I believe they will eventually will, the Silverado will have substancially lower miles. Diesels tend to have high resale values, so when the price of fuel drops, the low mileage Duracrap will be worth much more than the Ram. Hell, its already worth 3x more. Why drive the unreliable Silverado and pay more money for fuel now and put on more mileage thus lowering resale value when you can save money and drive the Ram?
if you're dad's driving is a lot of highway driving, his mpg is going to jump up quite a bit if he stays under 65. and Holy ****, you got that much of a difference between gas and diesel? that's kind of ridiculous.
