I am going to get the procharger just because of its completeness. It has a very conservitive tune as far as a/f etc. Because of the aux injectors they richen it up so the probability of lean conditions lessens. I belive for testing the put widebands in every cylinder and monitered each one. Some were leaner than others but they guy said they were all within 1% of each other.

i have the powerdyne supercharger on my 5.9L running 93octane and 9lbs of boost the truck launches off the line and pick's up quick. I am a mechanic for a mitsubishi dealership and after driving turbo cars all the time and driving my truck with the supercharger i wouldn't want a turbo. I'll stick with the supercharger providing boost throught the whole RPM range not just at 4000 RPM works better for daily driving if i were racing i might consider a turbo!!

If a v8 can't spool a turbo before 4k rpm, it's set up wrong. The turbo's too big, the wastegate is too leaky, or something is keeping it from building boost properly.

My Dodge Stealth made its peak torque (~330 ft lbs stock) just off idle, from 1500+ rpm. A 5.7 liter v8 should be making boost immediately. There's no reason you shouldn't have smoking tires before 2k rpm if it's done right.

I have a Procharger on my 02 Vette. Up to 3k rpms not much happens but from there on up hang on. It has about 10k miles since it was installed. Only problem I have had is a pulley went bad and it shredded the belt. Still got home no problem. I have 473 rwhp and 440 torque the car weighs 3,200. Plenty of power for me to safely get on the freeway. Yes, I recomend the Procharger.

It sounds like the turbo kits could use an "intelligent" boost control system. We all know that for maximum straight line performance, we want as much boost as we can get as quickly as we can get it.

A "tow" mode would be nice where it didn't spool as quickly. Also, if you could richen the A/F in that mode you could get the boost you want and keep the EGTs down. All of this is almost moot considering the sparse programming options for these trucks.

I'm spoiled having everything at my fingertips for my Subaru.

Larger injectors. Been a long time but I think they are 42 lb. If you do either one (STS or Pro Charger) get it tuned. Well worth the money.

budget for forged lower compression pistons
because you will probably have to buy them
in a boosted application
either the 'smart way' before
or after the
'school of hard knocks'
has taught a 'real world' lesson
