Can someone tell me for sure if a 2006 ram 1500 4.7 can take E85.. I looked at some web site and it said if the 8th letter on vin was a N than you could ( and it was).. want to make sure before i try it..
I have a 2003 chevy suburban and decided to try it in it this week... so far i am impressed.. E85 is 2.99 a gallon and 87 is 3.99 a gallon. in the suburban with 87 it got 12.9 mpg city with E85 it is getting 11.8 mpg. ran the numbers myself and then used a online calculator to back up my findings and found that it is cheaper to run E85 in the suburban with the current fuelprices.
If someone knows for sure if you can run E85 in a 2006 ram please let me know.. would like to see if i get the same results with the ram..

Dodge started making Rams from '04 capable of running on flex fuel. If the 8th character in the vin is "P" then its flex fuel. If you don't have flex fuel option then don't use it. The "N" in the vin is for gasoline and NOT flex fuel.

Where did you find this info at.. goto http://www.e85fuel.com/information/vin.phpand it says vin letter N.. could you share or give me a website where you got your info from.. If it can take it I would like to try it.. The suburban is doing great with it, MPG only droped by 1MPG and the E85 is $1/gallon cheaper.. thanks

Neighbor has '06 ram almost identical to mine except his is flex fuel and he has the "P" in the vin where I have the "N". He also said that mileage really goes down with the E85 but is basically a mute point since its very hard to find here. Computers are different between the two where flex fuel has sensors that detect what you are running and adjusts the engine accordingly.
I have actually seen that web site you point out but all I can say is that they have bad info according to Dodge.
You can also go to this site http://www.pronto-net.com/vin_app/vin.php and plug in your vin number. If the engine type does not have FFV at the end then it just confirms you don't have the flex fuel option.
