I have a 2003 Hemi 1500 just wanted to know if anyone had any suggestions on this problem. The lamp out light comes on and off as I am going down the road. All this started tonight so it is something new, have had a tail light go out but easy find and fix. Normally I would pay this no mind really but it has a bell with it that is just aggravating to stay politically correct. When I stop I can't pull a code because it goes off. (But still on and off as I drive) I just wondered if anyone had an idea of where to start looking at as a common problem.

Just had the same issue on my 03 Ram 1500.All my lights worked. I did the usual search and all the fuses were good. I couldn't find anything wrong. I did some online research and found out this was quite common with dodges. Even the dealership said it was common. The light bar for the rear light has a short in it or it is bad. Just take off your tailight, usually drivers side is bad. Not sure why, but it is the most common. Take the 4 screws off the light bar and then take all three light bulbs out. A new light bar cost $26 at the dealership. Go ahead and replace all your lights too. Use the grease also. I did all the above and the lampout light is gone, and best of all no more chime dinging.

Same thing happened with my 03 several times before I finally replaced both light bars on the rear. Problem solved. It's a pain in the butt that it happens, but it's an easy fix.
