Default need some help from a painter

I wanted to buy some chrome door handles and paint them black chrome. What kind of prep work needs to be done in order to do this right? Also is there a way to paint the original handles with the type of plastic that comes on them with that griddy material used on the original handles too. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Would not look good, about as good as chome paint....

Take it to a shop and have them plated, will probably be about $100. Yellow pages, plating or online google.

^^
i agree

you are better off either getting just black chrome door handles, or buying some plastic blackchrome handle covers.
