Torsion Keys Good idea/bad idea
Ok so im looking at getting the Truxxx leveling kit for my 02 ram. I called my local 4x4 shop and they said they dont carry any torsion key leveling systems. But they do carry ball joints and tie rod ends for when i need to replace them if i do get a leveling kit. I want to use the truxxx leveling kit because it will give 3 inches in the front. They also said i may as well just crank the bars to get the three inches, But even if the bolts are tightened all the way on the torsion bar i can't get 3 inches and plus i dont want to tighten them up any more then to gain about an inch that way i know im not messing up the angles on the front components. So is what they are saying true that if i use that leveling kit to get the three inches, i will be replacing ball joints and tie rod ends due to thoughing the geometry out of wack.
If all you want is an inch then just crank them! Or just put the new torsion keys in and then get an alignment! the ball joints might wear out faster, but not by that much! I have a friend who has 250,000 on his tahoe and is only on his second set of ball joints with his torsion lift!
They just want you to buy a lift that will make them $$$$$

My badI wasn't clear, I want to go up 3 inches which the keys will give me, I was just saying that i was only comfortable cranking the the bolts enough to gain about an inch that way i know im not going out of the desired range for the suspention components
You will be fine! GO FOR IT! I have 3" with new torsion keys on mine with no problems! You only live life once right?? Just get an alignment and you will be just fine!
I have an 03 Ram 4x4 and when I first got it I turned the keys to level the front end. In Jan. of 08 I bought Tuff Country leveling keys to "do it the right way" and as soon as I put them on I noticed my ride was horrible. two weeks later driving down a bumpy road and one snapped in half. Needless to say they came off and was given a full refund. After taking them off my truck rode like it was brand new again, thats how much of a difference they make in the ride. My stock torsion keys are still turned up and the truck is almost level.

I have the truxxx leveling kit on my 04. You can easily put them in yourself -just make sure you get the torsion key unloading tool or a ball joint remover tool.
After installing the kit I could crank my bolts so much that the front was taller than the rear. I leveled my truck correctly then took it into the dealership for an alignment. They had no problems doing the alignment.

If you are just looking for a mild look and plan on running a 33in tire, the torsion key lift will do. I originall bought a truxxx kit, but decided to sell it and save for a suspension lift and do it right once. They say lift kits are like breast implants....no matter how big you go, you'll wish later on that you went just a bit bigger.
