RE: 02 Ram 1500 A/C Problem.
OK... I have an edit/update... I got home and did some checking on mine. Since I never sit on the other side I was unaware it IS blowing a lot warmer on that side than the drivers side. As a matter of best info Mine is an 03, 3/4 ton, QC, 4 X 4, Long bed. Mine best guess right now is to add freon, but since the system IS closed that just means I have some kind of a leak SOMEWHERE right?

OK..I will type this slow so it sinks in...[8D] My sister's, coworker's husband is the shop manager at a dodge dealer. I will ask him in the week about. His brother or BIL died this week and the funeral was today so I thought it would be rude to bother him before it was over.

OK. I got the answer. $20 in parts and $300 in labor to fix. There are doors that turn for the temp control in there and either blow air across the AC condenser or the heater core. One of the doors is broken/stuck and blowing half the air across the heater core. The entire dash has to come out to fix it. IF you have issues of the blower as well, one of them can fall off onto the blower and plug it off altogether. Apparently this IS a known issue of sorts and it's most common on the diesels (like mine). This was direct from the shop manager at one of the local dealers. This was NOT the info I was looking for since I need to spend the $300 plus to buy the ball joints that need replaced too.... I have a really handy buddy that is a NAPA manager and we are going to look at the dash situation... he thinks we can fix it ourselves, but he is the handy one not beer. He fixes stuff and I bring the beer...
