wiring qustion

Default wiring qustion

well i ordered cab roof lights and theyre coming sometime this week. today i figured id get most of the wiring set up so i can just mount them next weekend. now the plug thats in the A pillar is not there and i tried looking for it and i cant find it. i even tore apart the dash. now my question is....can i just splice into my running light on one of my headlights? i know it will work, but will it be safe or should i do something different. please help

I did the cab lights on a buddies '98 Chevy Z71 about two years ago and it didn't have anything in the pillar either. So I just ran the wire down the driver side pillar, out through the e-brake cable hole and went directly to the fuse box. Couple of tie wraps along the way and that was it. Hung with him the last 2 weeks I was in GA. and it was still working fine. Should be easy enough to do on your truck...

ok...but i dont know what id do in the fuse box. where would the power come from....im kinda electrical dumb on this one man. i really need some help on this.

Positive goes to the big black fuse that is for the park lights and negative goes to ground.

ok so i need to wrap the wire around 1 of the prongsof the parking light relay? now for the ground...is that a body ground that i have to bolt on to my body somewhere...or is there a ground on the relay too? if so, will it tell me which prongs are positive and ground?

so run a wire to my relay....wrap 1 wire around 1 of the proongs....then connect the negative wire to somebolt on my chasis?....if thats the case what prong do i run the power to and can i run my ground to my ground i made for my amp?

depends on how your relay is wired. it should come with a little diagram. yes you can ground to the same ground as your chassis grounded amp.
