I had what sounds like the exact same problem early tuesday morning. I got in my truck to go to work and it was on SAT and it was like the radio was locked up. I think, like you, it was on channel 184. No nof the stearing wheel buttons worked nor the actual radio *****. After about 15 seconds it would let me change to FM. I think the "Updating Channels" message appeared when I was able to do this. I don't remember exactly when and what accutally happend, it was about 5am local and my non alert state of WTF clouds my memory. It hasn't happend again since then.

I wonder if it has something to do with the XM-Sirius merger that was recently approved by the FCC [sm=smiley25.gif]

could be something to do with the merger... the g/f has sirius in her car. lately, every time i have driven it, the reception has really been poor. i have also seen a message on her head unit that says "updating channel information...XX% complete".. wonder what the heck is going on.

I had the same thing happen Tuesday morning. Occasionally Sirius will re-arrange channels, or add channels. Since the factory radio stores this information, when these changes happen it has to update its channel list. Sounds like a lot of people saw the same thing.

I wish it had something to do with the merger, but the FCC hasn't approved it yet, (the DOJ gave their OK, but the FCC has yet to rule). I want baseball.

The factory receiver does stink though compared to aftermarket in terms of reception. I had a kenwood aftermarket tuner and HU, and I would rarely lose signal... Now it seems like if a large bird flys over me it will drop out.

I've noticed that mine when manually going lower in the channels, say going from 104 to 101, it often just defaults to 1 and I have to go back up to get to a channel I want. Only on SAT. AM/FM are fine.

Not a big fan of the sat. radio. I think the sound quality is poor. My wife has it in her charger, but I am not too impressed. I will stick with the mp3 discs. Just my 2 cents
