K&N air filter
Hello everyone, I am new here so I wanted to chime in. Last week i purchased a K&N air filter instead of the cold air intake due to price. I drive a 2004 4.7 Ram 1500. I have a Flowmaster cat back "duel" exhaust. That's it for mods outside of the radio and the window tint. I Started with a full tank of gas and just filled up again and did notice a difference in MPG but it was minimal, maybe +0.4. I do believe this is due to the fact that the truck does drive noticablly different now. I got better accelleration from a stop which is not helping my mpg situation at all. I was getting 10 mpg in the city and 12 on the hwy. I checked it after the air filter and it went up to 10.4. Any improvement is good i guess. Anyway, i was just saying hello and offering a first hand account of my new air filter. Have a great day everyone
Yea, people don't realise what a difference just putting a good quality after market drop in will make for acceleration. Now, imagine if you had gotten a CAI that flows straiter and gets rid of that baffle that sits in front of the TB.
But that's the problem with many mods, you'd recognize a little better fuel economy, but the brain inside of the right foot wants to take advantage of the performance gains and negates the mpg gains.
On trips where I just set the cruise and go, I get a solid 2-2.5 mpg gain out of my CAI, Headers, exhaust & tuner. But around town I gotta just stomp it and barely see any mpg gain at all...[8D]

I have a 2007 4.7 and put the full K&N intake, but it and duals got me a lil over 2 MPG...by the way, 10 and 12 is horrible, I get an average of 18 driving 50/50 city/highway, with the stock 20's....
Im not sure why your mileage is so low, but I have a buddy with an 03 with the 4.7 and 6" of lift, 36's that gets 13 MPG in the city

This weekend I drove up to michigan with hundreds of pounds of camp equipment in the back, 500 pounds worth of kids, was doing 75+ most of the time with a heavy foot to pass/catch up, sometimes 85, and still got over 18 MPG.
