Default Installing factory UConnect?

Anybody install factory UConnect on their '06-'08 Dodge ram? I'm specifically referring to the dealer add-on with the little two-button control pad. Dealer didn't have any in stock for me to look at the instructions, but they want $120 for the install. Is it plug & play, or is there some Can-Bus programming involved to make it work? Cali now requires hands-free phones as of tomorrow, and I refuse to wear one of those "robot-ears".

Any input is appreciated.

i have an 06 with the nav system, the uconnect works thru the nav screen, so i would guess that you need the nav system to make uconnect work.

I have seen Bluetooth wireless speakerphone devices recently that you just clip on the visor and use like a speakerphone. The other thing you might consider is a GPS with built in Bluetooth. Either of those is simple to install and you don't have to have the in-ear thing.
