Default Don't buy the Flowmaster 50 HD

Just installed the Flowmaster 50 HD "madefor the Hemi". At 1500 to 1700 RPM Speed 35 and 60 MPH the sound inside the cab is horrible. My truck is a 2500 and does not have the MDS. I had a flowmaster 50 series on my 98 ram and it sounded great. I like the flowmaster rumble but the drone inside is killing me. Any idea how to tone down the drone?

Add a performance resinator before the muffler. It will quite down the whole system. Tells you right on the box it will resinate! That or put a magnaflow on it.

I can't agree with you on this one at all. Must be something different about the way the pipes are run or sumthin'. I have an '04 1500 QCSB Hemi with the Flowmaster 50HD and don't notice any drone in the cab. It basically sounds about the same from inside until you really get on it.
I've had it since the truck was less than a month old in '04 and still have it. Have even added a CAI & LT Headers to the mix since. Exhaust note is lower with more growl now, but not louder or a hint of a drone.
That said, I'm actually keeping an eye on it to start to rust so I can justify cutting it out and welding a Cherry Bomb Vortex in it's place. At 41, the Vortex will probably be my last hoorah as far as a loud exhaust goes. But alas, the damn Flowmaster is only showing little signs of surface rust to date and I'm not in the financial situation I was in a few short years ago where I can justify taking a perfectly good mod off to replace it...

Read the back of the box. It says it right on it. I have the 50HD on my truck and certain speeds it will resinate into the cab. Did you have any stock resinators still in your system??

No resonators, and I don't notice any drone at all. But I've got a BedRug in the bed and the carpeting/padding may have something to do with it. I've got an off-road buddy in Ga. I go four wheeling and hunting with often that has a 50HD in his '03 and he swears his muffler is louder than mine. Says if mine sounded like his, I'd forget about wanting the Cherry Bomb.
The only thing we can figure is that it's the BedRug...

I'm also NOT in agreement with the drone in the cab. I very much like my 50HD on my QCSB. I have removed the resinator, and put the single 3" in / dual 2.5" out setup. I have a tonneau cover on, but that's the only thing that could possibly make mine quieter... I have some spots in the RPM range that are aggravating in MDS mode, but it's just a smooth rumble when all 8 cylinders are going..

Depending on year...there is a resinator in front and behind the muffler stock. I can see the MDS changing the drone though. You get the drone noise when your cruising and rpm is higher. I ushally just get it to shift and it goes away.
