HELP!!! OIL PRESSURE!! FIXED
Yea, that would be my thoughts on this. Do everything possible to get every bit of gunk down into the pan first. Then drop the pan and get it all out at once. I also like the idea of using some cheap dino oil a couple of times, changing often, before going back to the RP once and for all...
now when you guys say flush the engine, your talking about hooking it up to that machine that pumps high velocity cleaners through the engine? or are you talking about just pouring some stuff in the oil like rislone horseapples posted? because if thats the case i already have seafoam in it.
try the rislone, change the filter, add a quart , let idle, changing rpm every 30 seconds or so. see if pressure comes back. If it does after 5 minutes or so, drive it to circulate the rislone to all the nooks and crannys. Its worth a shot and A good Idea to flush the engine before pulling the pan to get the maximum ammount of contamination out while the pan is off.
well this is the plan now. pick up some rislone today. put in tomorrow morning and let it idle and all that you said. then friday at work im gonna have my shop do an engine flush, they said they have the machine to do it. then im gonna drive it home friday night, drop the pan saturday morning and clean the inside up. put some new oil with an oil filter and hopefully she'll be fixed.

Rislone is compatable with all types of oil including synthetic, It will help keep this from happening again by keeping varnish deposits desolved. It sure wont hurt to keep it in the engine , I use a quart per oil change, when I pulled my engine apart to swap cams, it was so clean I could eat off of it. When I change oil I can drive for a month or so before the oil starts turning black. If I were you I would keep either Rislone or some other additive like seafoam in the engine ESPECIALLY knowing that 4.7L's have a sludge problem. I have not used Seafoam but I am a Rislone user and I am happy with this product. All I can give you is my personal experience with it, but I can honestly say that i like this product and it does what it says it does. Hope this helps!!
thanks. gonna pick some up today. hopefully the rislone along with other stuff in it will clean up a good amount of stuf in the engine, then the engine flush on friday will get all the remains, push it to the oil pan, and then i can pull the pan and have it all clean!
Yeah, I have to admit, it makes more sense to flush it first. However, the Rislone is kind of the opposite of what I was referring to.

These are more of what I was talking about. You put them in right before an oil change. Think of them as a detergent of sorts that you put in just prior to an oil change that loosens crap up. The Rislone is more like Motor Honey or STP. Very thick stuff that increases the viscosity of motor oil... which is the opposite of what you need to do right now.

Have you picked up the adapter for the mechanical oil pressure guage yet??
Are you still showing "0" psi on your guages in the instrument panel???
It wouldn't hurt to make absolutely sure about the oil pressure indication for the engine. Something really strange going on there. The oil pressure reads 0 but the engine is running ok.
I remember you saying you pressure checked the sending unit and it read with the compressed air, but you still get 0 when running the engine.

Rislone will not alter viscosity. It is nothing like motor honey or STP. If I had to compare it to something it would be Marvels Mystery oil or Kroil. When motor oil gets old it loses lubricity, this causes the oil molecules to cling to one another instead of sliding past one another. Rislone works on a molecular level to penetrate the molecules that have bound to each other and restore lubricity so these clumps of oil molecules(sludge) will break up and be flushed to the filter. It is more of a penetrating oil than anything else. There is a link a few posts up that explains what it does.

horseapples and up boiler: what the hell shoul i go with as a product? my store doesnt carry the amsoil or lubegard, but we do have the rislone and possibly the valvoline. i have to check. should i go with the rislone or the valvoline? and you mentioned marvel mystery oil too? can i use that or should i stick to rislone or valvoline. please tell me what you guys settle on. because i really dont know.
