severedistortion, an e-fan is a definate must if you are towing. if you ever get stuck in traffic, you want that e-fan to cool off the engine that was just working hard for however many miles. also, when going highway speeds, the air from you driving will beat most any fan out there anyway.

Oh and big rigs...also a clutch fan. All they do is tow...makes ya wonder why they don't have a superior electric fan

do you guys think this is enough cfm for my 5.9 gas? i am talking about the one from moes.

A 3300 cfm e-fan is a HIGHLY beneficial mod for 95%+ of all 1500 series truck owners. The only time you would be better off with the clutch fan would be if you towed up near the capacity of the truck on a fairly regular basis.
Anyone else will benefit from increased HP, increased gas mileage, a cooler running engine at lower rpms and less chance of over-heats if caught in stop & go traffic in the heat.
I'm also seeing that the major auto fan companies are coming out with much beefier designs for 2500 series trucks and even diesels. It's my guess that within a few years even the big tow rigs will come with e-fans...
^^^Doubt it....a fully locked big rig fan at 2,500 rpms will pull 30,000 cfm.
If a vehicle with a clutch fan overheats in stop and go traffic...there's something else wrong with their cooling system. Probably a small leak that would lower the pressure and the boiling point...or for most a unmaintained system.
I'mnot saying electric fans don't have their purpose...because they do. IMO if you tow a lot stay with a clutch fan...or don't doesn't matter to me.

You should see a little better acceleration from a stopped position and the thing I noticed most is that you coast to a stop a lot farther than before. I guess the drag on the belt/system with the clutch fan effects this, because I can let my foot off the gas and coast to stop lights and signs like 100 feet or so ealier than before.
I think thats where the major gas savings come from, starts & stops. You should see a nice little 1-2 mpg gain from just the fan alone, especially in city type driving conditions.
As far as the towing goes, I really think it's only an issue when you are up near the capacity of the truck (maybe 7000# or so) because I had a bass boat up until the middle of last year that came in at about 3000 lbs. fully loaded, and trailered that up to 400 miles ata time with no issues at all...
well of course theres a mpg gain theres no drag on the engine anymore from the clutch fan, so i can second this, ive put a derale dual fan system on my old ford and saw huge improvements on throttle responce, i dunno how loud the flex-a-lite system is but my derale duals flowed 4,000 cfm but they were kinda loud, there also only 200 bucks http://store.summitracing.com/partde...p;autoview=skutheres the link
