yes yes that is right, i just didnt want to start questions in his head....pulling off the bumper is worse on the truck, not to mention the nicks you get in it from towing ( and the loss of turning radius with a trailer)
He has a receiver, and the receiver is what i bought, just allows you to use a hitch, not just the ball

Severedistortion,
Wow thank you. That clears up so many things. I was trying to go through my owner's manual and other websites and I was getting so confused on the class III vs IV.

So, if I buythe "Class III Mopar Receiver" hitch that was in the link above, that will bolt up to my existing "Class III Hitch", which will then give me a total tow capacityof a "Class IV" hitch package?

Please confirm or set me straight, as that is what I believe you are trying to say. Thanks again (you too Matt)

Yup...buying the receiver makes your class III a class IV.

Great Thanks

With another question, does anyone know how a 7-way wiring harness installation works for this truck? More specifically, does the existing 4-way connector at the rear of the truck plug into the new 7-way harness? And how much labor is there for the harness install? Any splicing required?

Thanks in advance

I just have the 4-pin on mine but this harness says there's no splicing and it's OEM....it looks like it's completely seperate from the 4-pin. http://www.autotrucktoys.com/ram/Mop...6319C7113.aspx

Yeah, I just bought that exact one, along with the Mopar hitch, on EBay. I will let you all know how installation goes. Thanks again for everyone's help

EDIT: And for anyone that is curious, the Mopar OEM Hitch Receiver and the Mopar OEM 7-way Wiring Harness + shipping came to $166.00 on EBay. The two parts, after sales tax, wereover $190at my local Dodge dealerships.
