auto door locks continuously unlock 03 Ram Hemi
I have a '03 Ram 1500 w/Hemi. When driving down the street, the auto door locks continuously unlock (sometimes as much as one time every second) - this seems to happen less in the winter (cold outside tmeps) and sems to be triggered when hitting bumps, butcontinues without stopping. Its driving me crazy. I posted this question in Yahoo Answers and got the following response:
Message: Tom sometimes there is a grounding strap located on the back side of the block. This grounding strip is connected from the fire wall to the block.
Other times there is your main ground that comes from the battery and is grounded to a bolt somewhere on the motor and then right at the battery clamp there is another wire that runs from the negative battery clamp to the frame.
In any case be sure ( somewhere on the block or the battery) there is a ground grounding the battery or block to the frame.
I know what you are thinking why, the motor sits in the engine mount, butthe mount is rubber and insoluates the motor from the frame, And in most cases the trans also sits on a rubber mount,
Also did you change the relay ?
I was not able to aske the poster which relay specifically he was talking about. Also, any help in specifically locating the grounding wires would be helpful. And of course any other ideas or anyone with similar experiences would be appreciated.
Thanks
Tom

RE: auto door locks continuously unlock 03 Ram Hemi
Wow!! Didn't realize this was a semi-common issue. My '02 has done this since new. Typically while switched off. I thought it was my neighbor's garage door opener being on the same frequency cause usually it happened exactly when his door was opening. I did have an issue with loose wiring under the dash that caused all sorts of weird problems but the dealership finally found the in-cab ground wire that was loose from the factory. There's some Quality Control for you...
