ANOTHER NEWBIE WITH SOME ????
HI EVERYONE!,
MY NAME IS DANNY AND I HAIL FROM BRAMPTON, ONTARIO, CANADA.
I JUST PICKED UP A 2002 RAM 1500 4.7 litre 4X4 Q/C LAST MONTH.
I HAVEN'T OWNED A DODGE P/U IN A WHILE (last one was an 87 half ton, reg.cab, straight 6, stick 3 speed with super low-rip your house off the foundation-toddler can crawl faster low low low and even more low gear) AND THAT WAS BACK IN THE EARLY NINETIES.
I MUST SAY THEY HAVE COME A LONG WAY, BUT I HAVE SOME CONCERNS.
1. Are they always extremely T H I R S T Y !?!?, I know it's a QC, 4X4, with a small 8, but GEEEEEZ!
I'm getting an avareage of 24.5 litres/100 kms (what does that work out to? approx. 7.2 gal/60miles??)
Is there a cure??
2. Backing up, it squeels horribly.
3. When driving, i observed a hissing sound (like a vaccum leak) when accel. pedal released but goes away under acceleration.
4. Quite a bit of valvetrain noise when start up at cold until normal temp is reached. Is this normal?
I looked quickly through the forum and I yet to come across these problems. I apologize in advance if these are questions that have been asked already. Yes i've been to the dealer(and it's Dodge) and they look at me as if i'm on crack!, and no, no engine codes or lights have come on.
Jus wanna know if this is the way it's supposed to be or do i have problems here??
