thats what im thinking...brand new truck that i know is MINE everything from facotry. everything i do will be done right! and a full warranty. i personally think if i can do the swap for a little of 10 grand....why not. im not a big fan of the 09's and right now theyre practically giving away trucks....i think right now is the time for me to do anything if i want to...i just dont think its going to happen ( because of parent wise) i could afford the payments and all.

I ended up financing 16K for mine after rebates and trade-in. Stickered for 38K.

dealers use what is referred to as "MMR", its an online price guide through Manheim auctions that only dealers have access to(and so do I). It gives them an accurate up to the week/day gauge of pricing for auction vehicles. Since most of the cars and trucks out there that are traded in go straight to the auction instead of sitting on that dealers lot, a dealer will typically give you about $2000 less than what the auction value is so they can make money off of it. Otherwise they will just inflate the value of the new car purchase until it evens out. Right now that is why most dealers wont touch SUV's and trucks because of how much the market is both saturated and values have sagged so much.

So with that in mind; currently according to MMR for the mid-west region, your truck typical brings on an average $13,300 in avg. cond. and $14,300 in exc. cond. wholesale, with $14,900 to $16,400 respectively ont he retail side. Now with a salvage/rebuild title, you can be assured that the value will be at least 2G's down from that AND then if you were to take it to a dealer, then they will give you about another $1500-$2000 less than that to cover their ***. So your looking at a sub-$10,000 trade-inand maybe13(if your lucky)if you sell it outright to just the right buyer since your not going to get retail for it.

And of course that's all relavant to what exactly the reason for the salvage title is in the first place.

Trade in values still **** me off. If I go to the lots they are asking just as much as they always have. So in bad times the trade in goes down but not their asking prices??
