Paxton vs. Procharger..any difference?
Besides the price point on these two superchargers, I really can't find any major differences at least from online literature I've read. Both centrifugal type with auxillary injectors and piggy back tuners. Quality better on one then the other? I really don't know much "real world" info about either of these mfg's. I'd appreciate input from anyone with experience with either of them. Thanks guys.

I have a Pro Charger on another car. Only problem I had was one of the pulleys went bad and the belt started to shred. Nothing with the head unit. A little over 10k miles since installation. With the tune I got an additional 200 HP. Should be fun in the truck. Can't say it helped the gas mileage.

The procharger is a self contained unit...so you don't have to tap the oil pan or anything. I dunno if the paxton is or not..
Also you might want to wait until someone can crack the pcm coding...that whole axillary injectors and piggy back tune is crap. There's no need for it on a completely tunable modern engine like the hemi.

not too worried about mileage being that a just bought a near 4 ton truck with gas at $4 a gallon...prefering the blower over turbo because of torque needs and hauling/overheating issues with turbo's on heavy gas trucks.
Good point about the aux. injectors and piggyback programming....is that the main reason for the almost "rigged" afterthought part of these blowers? No one has been able to fine tune it from a coding point? Rather disconcerting...for $5K+ equipment.

It's not so much of an afterthought, I don't think anyone has been able to completely break the hemi truck coding yet...so ATI doesn't have a choice.Once the trucks are completely tunable you should be able to run at least 5 psi as is (bolt-ons recommended)...any more than that you might need bigger injectors depending on what the stockers are rated at.
You never know...if you buy a kit now ATI might be willing to upgrade it later on for free.

RE: Paxton vs. Procharger..any difference?
I had a full procharger setup on my SVT Focus. I never noticed that it cut in to my MPG when I would drive the speedlimit and accelerate at a normal rate, but witha HEMI I'm sure MPG isn't a concern for you anyways.
The procharger on any vehicle is very loud and turns a lot of heads, especially when you are WOT. It sounds mean and just sounds great. I also had a Greddy Type-RS blow-off valve which sounded nice when I would get into boost and shift.
The thing I ended up not liking was changing the oil in the head unit itself, since it is self-contained. I always had to take it to a performance shop and have them take the headunit off and change the oil on the work bench, which is what PC reccomends, so that gets kind of old, but depending on where it sits on the Ram, it may be quite easy to pull it off yourself and change the oil in your garage.
As far as what else I had to get along with my kit to make it work was a SCT II tuning module, 60lb injectors, Kenny Belle boost-a-pump and Diablo MAFia and professional tuning/dyno time, but that was on a SVT Focus, so I'm not sure what you would need with the HEMI Ram.

KRC performance has their own tune for the Procharger so there are no aux intake injectors.Check it out. http://www.krcperformance.com/krc/in...&Itemid=26

RE: Paxton vs. Procharger..any difference?
thanks for the link M15....here's what Iam scratching my head about..straight from that page:
Procharger Intercooled system using the KRC 2 bar map sensor/ 50lb injectors (qty 8), SMT6 Standalone programmable system. $5499
[ul][*]No aux intake injectors to run the front cylinders lean, 8 injectors to to get the job done right. Only 8 wires to connect. Air to Air intercooler. D1SC upgrade available too for built engines. [/ul]
Tell me what exactly that means in the bold print compared to other sellers of procharger systems.....would you say that this would be the best quality setup as far as procharger's go? Appreciate the insight from you guys. thanks again.
