Default New 3rd gen

Hey all, I just financed my fist truck (not to happy about debt but w/e). I bought an 02 2500 with 99,000 miles on it with of course the cummins. I am planning on doing a side business of hauling live stock localy (out to 200 miles one way). My dad bought an 01 when they came out, so I'm used to that truck.

So my fist question is, what are the differences in tranny and engines between 02 and 01? (I have the 4 speed auto)

Can I run boifuel with out hurting any of the rubber seals?

Just as a comment my fuel mileage is roughly 21 mpg. Wich is better then my F150, wich also had an inline 6.

Yeah, they started with the new style in 02 1500's, and the next year 03, the 2500+ had the new style. Like i believe they will do with the 09 rams, they will only be in 1500's and then the 10's will 2500+ have the new style.

No, Its the older body style. Wich confused me that 02 was listed as 3rd gen, since it looked the same as the 01. But, I'm not to concered about the body style, I dont care for the new front end.

So, Is there any differences in mechanics? Or is it all the same? I did hear that the 02 tranny is made by a different manufacturer.

The truck pictured is a 3rd gen. Sounds like you have a 2nd gen with the pancaked grill. It might be one manufactuered very late in the production run.

I dout its a first gen, since it's an '02. First gens have the 12 valve, and mine is the 24, so I know it's at least a seconde gen truck. It's just that this sight has 02 and up as third gen trucks. I'm just gonna go to the cummins section and get my answer there. Later all.

I meant to say you had a 2nd gen, actually.
