Anti-Theft Switch or "Kill Switch"...Where to install?
I just got my truck a week ago and would like to install a switch to prevent the truck from starting (for anti-theft reasons). I've done this in the past through the wiring to the starter, the fuel pump, or through the fuse box. What are other options out there? Would a switch added to one of those possible places cause a problem on this truck (like freak out the computer)?
(Some of the vehicles I have done before: 2003 Dodge Dakota, 1992 Ford Thunderbird, 1988 Pontiac Grand Am, and 1976 Jeep CJ-5.)
Thanks

thats what i was thinking. interupt the battery power with a switch, but if you think about it, you'll loose all your settings like in your radio and all of that, so i dont think that would work very well

Ive done it in my older trucks where you run one of the wires from the ignition (dont ask which one as I haven't done this in a few years but I believe it was a ground wire) to in my trucks case the turn signal. The idea is that in order to start the truck you had to switch the left hand turn signal on before you turn the key or it wouldn't start. Just having a visible switch is alright but there aren't to many places to hide one where its conviniant to you but hard for others find.
If you want to install a switch I would put it in the hidden compartment if you have it. (Under the middle seat).
