Hello, i'm writing from italy...
when i bought my ram 3 months ago it has the rack & pinion leaking, so i bought a remanufactured one from rockauto in the states, i install it and it was ok for 2 months, then i install the leveling kit and i have a small offroad experience in some very little hill (that a stock grand cherokee can do).... there the front wheelwas in full extension and after a little turns the rack & pinion fails.... i completely lost power steering...
so i had the unit remanufactured here in italy but after 3 day (only street use) it failed again... i have it checked from TRW here in italy and they told it was crooked...
so i bought a new one from chrysler.... and by now from two week it's ok....

the question is... can the rockauto unit be faulty ? or i broken it in the small offroad ? if it suffer with leveling kit i can't use the ram for nothing cause i will always be scary of wheel go in full extension and broke the rack & pinion...

Sounds like a faulty unit. It was remanufactured, not new so there could have been something out of dimension causing problems.

Just out of curiosity, how much is gasoline in Italy these days? It's about $4.25 dollars here.

so no problem with leveling kit, right ?

here in italy now gasoline are 1.51 euros/litre that is 2.34 dollars/litre... i'm not able to calculate costs per gallons cause i don't know how many litre in a gallon.... sorry...

 

plenty of people on this forum that have a leveling kit and take it off road with no problems. i agree with lx, seems like a faulty unit.

damn, that's $9 a gallon!
