Accuracy of Overhead Console and Headlight Plastic Corrosion
Just simple questions.
I have an 02 RAM 1500 SLT Quad Cab , 4.7, 129,000 miles
Is the overhead console accurate in calculating MPG? Are there any programing guides anyone can point to? My owners manual says nothing.
and
Is there anything to take off weather corrosion on the plastic covering the headlights? I've tried a mild polish, it removes some, but I'm afraid of polishing through the plastic!
Thanks.

1. No, most people on here will tell you that the overhead is usually off, telling you you're getting better MPG's than you really are...
2. As far as the headlights you can get a new set pretty cheap on eBay: Headlights

I have herd diffrent things bout the overhead console. But you thould try some meguiars plastix on your lights, and see if that helps. It wrks great for me and you can use it on anything that's plastic!
i used this stuff from walmart, comes in a silver bag and its like 19 bucks, i tried the plast x and didnt get much but this stuff was amazing, its a whole kit you scuff them up, put a compound it comes with on and wet sand them for a while and my neon had headlights that looked brand new
I'm not sure if it will work on our headlights (some plastics act differently I guess?) but I've used the following process before on older Rams and cars.
Wet sand (spray lights with a dish soap & water mix) and sand with 1000 to 2000 grit sandpaper.
Do this a couple times, going to a finer paper each time. Lightly sand, no need to kill the lens. Make sure you have plenty of soapy water on the light.
It will look very hazy as you do this, but will remove small blemishes/slashes on the surface as well.
Then I used 3m rubbing compoud with pads and lots of elbow grease.
Finally use a polish to coat the light & prevent the hazing for a while.

Look at what the overhead is saying that you are getting, then calculate it when you fill the tank. If it's like mine, you will get .1 or .2 more MPG on paper than the overhead says. Every time. Without fail.
