Free Revving a motor quickly is not as bad as most people think. What kills a motor is holding it at or above redline for any period of time. I agree in saying that its annoying as hell also....

I think our truck are set to stop the Free Rev at 4k.....

That sux you blew your pump man, i dont understand why it would blow from just a free rev in park....maybe it was on its way out in the future?!?!? i dunno...
