So, has anyone heard of this? I have an '05 Ram with the 45rfe. My "tunner" set my rev limiter up to 6400 RPM in park so I could "rev the hell out of it in park to show off." So, I did just that and the first time I did it the trans oil pump exploded. I took the trans in and they said that tranny needs the rev limiter set low RPM because it can't handle a high rev in park and that the tunner never should have set it that high and told me to rev it up that high. Anyone hear of this.

OUCH! You dont need 6400 rpm anyway, unless you change the cam, the stocker wont make much power above 6k. As far as the tranny pump, I have never heard of one doing that. That said dead revving is hell on the engine!

 

Your lucky that the rods didn't exit the block. Never free rev and engine like that!!!!!!!!

 

All I can think of is the ole "Hey look Mom, No hands" show offs.

They always end in a story like this.

I hate that you have to learn the hard way. I know my Father warned me about many things that I never learned until It happen to me.

 

How is reving that high showing off? To me sounds more annoying...

 

I think they red line at like 6200, but hey live and learn...

 

redline at 5800. in park it won't let you go much past 3k.

that blows that it did that, or that the tuner let you. but you're pretty much f'd. warranty won't cover it, and tuner guys will say "we can refund the tuner"...if that.

I am pretty sure they won't... As they do claim that any damage caused by the unit will not hold the manufacturer responsible... but then again... the world has surprised me before..

 

i wouldn't expect them to, but maybe they'll feel bad for the guy
