You must have a REALLY heavy foot. I'm surprised the torque from normal driving can twist the shaft in half like that.
I went to a fire once on the Seoul-Pusan Expressway (in South Korea) in which the driveshaft on a M-715 5/4 truck twisted in half and went through the gas tank (which was probably located behind the seat). In this case, they were towing a 2-1/2 ton trailer (designed to be towed by a "duece and a half").
Fortunately, the guys got out but the rig (and load) was a total loss.
