Thiers a kit from mopar that prevents the stock tire rod ( the one with the hook ) from fitting into the whinch, its to stop the theft of your tire, you need the othier end from the kit to fit it,
If the truck is new, the dealer might have installed it and not given you the chrome peice that repalces the black stock unit, or if the truck is uesd, the last owner might not have left it with the truck..
Ditch the factery jack, carry abotle jack and a 10 in 4x4 post or a 2x4's 10 in, as a plat form for the jack..
And the alum. rims can stick to the hubs... the 4x4 helps break the seal when you lower the jack with the 4x4 under the tire, but don't do this with out a couple of lugs snuged up...
I could write a book on my tire changing experainces on my 06 2500 Ram

on my truck, all the pieces that snap together, one of those ends (the quare end) fits over my little hoist crank thing.

Find the silver/chrome piece and put it on the end of the restand then run it down that metal tube that's sticking out. A buddy with a new truck didn't have the chrome piece in the jack kit it was in the center under seat storage. As stated above it's an anti-theft feature and the hook is just for the scissor jack
