Default Italian RAM

Hello Guys!
I am Stefano and i write from Italy. l love the States and their Cars and Bikes (i am an official Harley-Davidson dealer).
I own a 68 GTO, a 1947 chopped Chevy, a 1930 Ford roadster and a 2005 Dodge RAM as a daily driver (pretty anusual in my country).

I have searched in this forum an answer to my problem before writing but i haven't found anything about...
I have bought my RAM used about7 mounths ago; between 80m/h and 100m/h it has a bad vibration with a noise. It seems to be the drive shaft but i have checked and it's all ok.
Anyone has my problem or know what it could be?

Thanks for the answers and scuse my poor english.

Welcome to the forum!

80-100mph is pretty fast... Does it only happen at these speeds? If you think it's on your drive shaft, I would check your universal joints, but I would expect that you would have the vibration at lower speeds as well if it was your u-joints. Since it happens at these higher speeds, I would first get your wheels balanced. One wheel out of balance could cause a vibration, especially at high speeds. If those check out, I would have your wheel bearings inspected.

Stefano,
Your English is excellent. At those speeds (km/h?) I would suspect wheel balance or a steering joint (ball-joint). Take the least expensive option and have the wheels balanced first

Thanks a lot for the prompt reply!
Yes the vibration is only at these speeds, when i go faster or lower it disappears. I have just changed my tires and the shop balanced wheels.
I'll try to check the joints..
Someone here in Italy told me it could be the elimination of the speed limiter ( don't know if it has one), but i think they don't know much about this truck...

If the Ram has a speed limiter, it's either set very high, or the previous owner of my truck disabled it, because I've run mine up to 118mph. At the speeds you are talking, it could be any number of things, including things already mentioned. I've noticed my truck will start vibrating badly from wheel hop at 75mph+. Tossed a couple sandbags in the bed and the vibration went away.

Your english is fine; I don't speak Italian and most Americans don't speak english as well as you. It's also good to see a European that appreciates a good pickup truck! I've got several friends in Britan and Germany that love to bash my gas guzzler.

Thanks for the words man.
I proudly drive my pickup everyday and it's a great thing even if here the gas costs about 8 dollars a gallon.
I'll try to put something heavy in the bed and see what appen...

Just picked up from the shop. They opened the differential and told me that everything is ok,no wear. New oil and work; 150€ (about 220$) they are crazy...
Anyway, what means "tie rods are shot"?
Scuse me but i don't understand everything...
