Default 5.9L Headers

Hey Im looking for some opinions on the various types of headers on the market for a 2003 Dodge Ram 1500. I am looking for the best sound/performance for around $400. Are long tubes better than shortys? Links to sites that sell them would be great! Thanks for the help guys!

First of all, if you are looking for performance then only consider Long Tubes. Dyno proven to be the best bang for the buck by far. You should only consider shorty's if fitment is a problem (which it won't be for your truck) or because of emissions testing.

To give you specific brand/model for your application I need to know it it's a 4x4 or 4x2 and the cab type (QC or RC)...

I installed the Pacesetter LTs on my Hemi and love 'em. Super easy install on my truck even with moving the cats and sensors back 18". I don't have solid numbers for HP gains, but mpg's went up about 1.5. I can't really tell a difference with the low end but the HP gains from about 2500 rpms and up are night and day better.
Check Moe's Performance or Air Ram to see if they are available for a 3rd gen 5.9. They would have the best prices as well as service. Also, don't skimp out, pay the extra for ceramic coating inside & out. You'll be glad you did down the road...

I checked both sites and didnt have any luck finding any longtubes for an 03 5.9L. Does anyone else have any ideas? What do shops usually charge to install headers? If I cant find any longtubes for it are the shorties even worth the money? Thanks for all your help Hammer!

Yea, the 3rd gen with the 5.9 is a b*tch finding things for! It was only available in '02 and in just the first few '03s off the lot until the '03 Hemi's came out. A quick search showed nothing in a LT at my usual haunts. Keep in mind, there is no difference between the '02 & '03 1500 5.9s, and most places don't even realize that the 5.9 exists in some of the early '03s, so a search for '02s may find you something...
