2005 hemi 5.7... Valve adjustment?
This may be a very stupid question but i gotta start somewhere. could my Valves need to be adjusted?
the reason i ask... at idle i hear a clicking/knockingnoise which reminds me of valves that are out of adjustment.
the noise is the same with a/c on or off.when i raise the rpm's the sound goes away.could it be in the exhaust?
what do u think?

It's the famous Hemi tick.
There is a fix that requires new heads from Chrysler. But Dodge are loath to replace them for obvious reasons.
Many people thought the "tick" was the EGR valve, but oversize valve guides have proven to be th eculprits I believe.

I've had the "Hemi Tick" since day one and four and a half years later it's still there, no louder than before and I've had no problems yet.
Chrysler knows about it, but if it's not causing any noticeable problem, you'll never get them to do anything about it under warranty...

Nice truck, looked sharp, drove great, but I had a slew of little nuisance type problems. It burned oil at a rate of about a quart every 1500 miles, driveshaft had to be greased three times in the 22 months I had it due to excessive noise, push button 4 wheel drive wouldn't engage all the time and stuff like that. Dealer could never find an oil leak, nor did I find any evidence and it didn't show obvious signs of burning it. Dealer finally said "all the 5.3's do that"...
I couldn't be happier with my '04 Hemi...
Speaking of valves...is this normal for the hemi? Busted spring or dropped valve? http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=zJ6fKj3h9vI

The reason I ask is because I have a bad rattle and i'm thinking about pulling the covers tomorrow and taking a look. This one is my truck...8 seconds in http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=HOy1cm5CcXs

Chrysler has known for some time how to correct
"Hemi tick"
but so many engines and $ are involved
that they are afraid of issuing a recall or TSB.
They have a solution that your dealership can find
by checking their
"Star Online" computer data base
for solution number K59926684 or K21050787
The ticking problem is that the valve guide internal diameters are too big,
and the solution involves putting in new valves with oversize stems.
If you are still under warranty
Chrysler will pay for this,
but if you are out of warranty
it is a very expensive repair.
