6.1 is a good mid to high rpm, moderate HP cam. You'll sacrifice some low end torque for the HP gains however. A good, low cost upgrade for a regular cab 4x2. My personal opinion is that in a weighty quad cab or 4x4, you are better off with the stock cam or another choice such as a Comp 260 or KRC 210 for the better low end torque gains.
The good thing about the 6.1 cam is that it doesn't NEED any other upgrades. It will work fine with the stock PCM and although I'd recommend stronger springs & retainers, a good many people have not replaced them and have no problems. Unlike Manley or Comp springs and retainers, Mopar 6.1s are very inexpensive, however, and I'd suggest you change to them with that cam...

I am wanting to put in a comp cam 268, is this possible. If so what else will have to be changed out. I want my truck to have that hard rough idle and sound like a suped up muscle car and shake the ground a little. Is this possible to do? Will the MDS still work and what will it do to the MPG?

Your gonna have to find someone with an 06+ truck with MDS or contact Comp directly on this. I know that KRC Performance has a line of CAMS for non-MDS Hemi's and a separate line for MDS trucks. The MDS versions don't spec near as good (performance wise) as the regular cams for some reason. They also offer a kit to make your Hemi non-MDS.

I want to keep my MDS in tact. The cams that are specifically made for MDS, will they give that hard rough idle? I am going to call Comp Cam today and see what they say about that 268 cam.
