2WD Leveling Kit
SoIve been wanting to put a 2.5" leveling kit on my 2WD Ram. I called the place that I wanted to install it and whoever answered the phone told me that it wasnt a good idea to level a 2WD truck because the front end of the truck will bottom out whenever hitting any bumps in the road. I still want to level my truck and I want to know if this is even true and if so how can this be prevented?

who ever you talked to doesnt know anything about 2wd leveling kits. i put one on my truck over a year ago and have not bottomed out yet! not even once. ust make sure it is one that sits on top of your springs. i have a 2006 ram 1500 big horn edition. no problems with the kit yet.
in a way....i disagree with you fireaxe. i have a 2wd and a 2.5 spacer from daystar. 95 dollars shipped to my door. now when you hit bumps....its rough! you deffinatly feel the front end drop! now for the way i think the guy you talked on the phone is wrong....this shouldnt persuade you to not do it...its actually a rather simple fix and that is to get 2 inch longer shocks. best way to go about it is find some aftermarket shocks for a 2wd 2500 ram. theyre 2 inches longer than the 1500 and are perfect for what you need.
maybe it is just the kind that you bought. i havent bottomed out yet. at the time, i didnt have much money to waste, so i bought the advance auto specials. the ones i got sit on top of your spring. they were 5.99 each and granted, it will take 2 guys and about 4 hours of your time, but it is rewarding knowing that you did it yourself. Like with any suspension modifacition, you will have to get your truck realligned.

what about the ball joints wearing prematurely? i have been wanting to level my 2007 2wd rcsb but have seen a few people mention this on here... how much faster wear are we talking about? (i think it was the ball joints; it was some suspension component)
So I called another place today and they quoted me $450 to put the leveling kit on and replace the front shocks to prevent the front from bottoming out. Any thoughts? Pricey?
