Gas Mileage

RE: Gas Mileage
I get decent mileage on the highway, but around my house I get HORRIBLE gas mileage, as in around 10-11, because I literally have 7 stop signs/lights in the 1.5 miles between me and the highway. Going to the grocery store (a different direction) I have 9 stop signs/lights over 2 miles. Walmart is 6 signs/lights over 1.5 miles. All that stop and go absolutely destroys my mileage.

RE: Gas Mileage
When I got my truck it got 13-16 , I was driving it real hard and fast everywhere. Now I am real (REAL) easy on the gas pedal, I try to keep it under 50 mph and on the interstate I put cruise on 65 or 70. I have been getting readings off the over head console and I have been calculating by pen and paper, I have been watching it now for about 4 tanks full and I have been getting great mileage. Best yet is 24mpg. My truck is 100% stock, I am getting ready to add KN CAI and a Cat back exhaust system. Hope fully this will not hurt my mpg to bad, Ill keep ya posted.
MikeHTally, apparently you didnt read what I wrote, I do calculate it by pen an paper method. I fill it to the brim and run it till it is bone dry and calculate it, I do this on every fill up, and I go to the exact same gas station. My overhead head console info is genreally very close to what I am really getting.

I have an 03 2500 with a EOM aftermarket air filter & 315 x 70 x 17" KO's with an upgraded exhaust.
I get 11.5 to 12 MPG in and around town. On the highway with the A/C off and tailgate down I get about 14 MPG.
Before I put those tires on I had the 285 x 70 x 17"'s and I got 2 MPG better all the way around.
I figured my break even point on installing new smaller tires (285's) is 15,000 miles.
I atribute the crap gas mileage to how good the truck sounds

put that tailgate up phil. keeping the tail down hurts your mileage, that isn't an opinion.
superchips did not help me, and I did a good controlled test. Other's have reported superchips has given between 1-3 mpg.
I put Amsoil in the engine and in the rear diff cuz I heard it helps mileage. I was a skeptic and wasn't expecting gains, but suprisingly it did go up just a little bit. Front diff and transfer case have yet to be done, but in the end i'm now expecting about 1.5-2.
