Default Horn when locking truck

Keeping this short. Press unlock, and then lock right away, and the horn will not honk but it still locks the truck. Works on my 08

Another way around it is to use the electric lock on the front doors. Still sets the alarm, and doesnt sound the horn. Nice trick you figured out though!

Well that leads me to another question - the range of the key remote is horrible. How far away does yours work? The manual says something like 28 feet which is way too short - it doesnt even work from inside my house!

I have noticed that I can only unlock my truck from about 40 to 50 feet away with the remote butI can lock it from much furtherawaywith the remote. The furthest I can lock it from is probably 500 feet.

I agree to unlock you have to be much closer but locking the range is crazy. If your remote is only working at close range try a new batt. You may for some reason have a old one or something.

Sometimes mine will only unlock when standing next to it!

Thanks for the no horn lock idea. Tried it last night. It works!

Got inspired by this thread and went and fixed the annoying horn yesterday afternoon. Now I enjoy quiet locking when I get out of my truck.
