Default 4.7 Headers, any difference?

Will headers labeled for the 02-04 trucks fit the later models? What has changed on the 4.7 that would cause fitment problems if so? Those with headers on your 4.7, where was your gain in the RPM range? Thanks ahead of time.

The emissions fittings locations probably changed...that's what it usually is anyway.

Headers for an '02-'05 would probably fit the engine up till they changed it in '08, but I think any fitment problem would come from the front end itself, since Dodge changed from a torsion bar to coil overs in '06 on 4x4s. You'd probably be able to use them on 4x2s. But the best thing to do is ask the manufacturer...

Thanks for the info. What all changed on the 4.7 in '08? I know the HP was boosted to 310? I traded my SCSB for a QC 4.7 last week, trying to figure some things out. Thanks!

Compression ration was bumped up to 9.8:1

Cylinder heads now have 2 spark plugs per cylinder, like the hemi.

Revised combustion chamber design ("Slant/Squish" design)

So the '08s have dual plugs? Was the earlier design used in some early '08s? My '08 was built late '07, but I'm only seeing one plug per cylinder. I don't see the same setup (coil packs etc.) that were on my hemi.

Look closely... You'll easily see the secondary wires leading from the coil packs to the bottom plugs. The coil packs sit directly on top of the primary plugs.

If your engine doesn't look like the picture below, then you very well may have an early 4.7L, however, I doubt it, as all the 2008 model year 4.7L engines in the Ram were rated @ 310HP, and none of the single plug early versions were ever rated above 265, if I remember correctly.

Like pictured above...if you have any spark wires you have the 08 4.7. If I remember right the earlier 4.7's didn't even have wires.
