OK,OK,yes,I was wrong to say that Dodge frame and chassis is to poor.I agree that all big three (Ford,Dodge and Chavy) build wery well. But,why Ford guys say that Ford frame and chassis is much stronger than unother two?If it's best,so what is best, they use C frame ( I think Chavy too),Dodge use Hydroforming frame. But again, like they say C-channel is still extremely good.Ever look at a Semi, they run heavy C channel frames, the way the torque twists the truck a boxed frame would be bad,If its good enough for a big semi its good enough for SD.So,what different between them:C channel can be made with a steel break, basically just bent. C channel can be hydroformed as well to make complicated bends if needed. Hydroforming is most typically used in boxed frames, where high pressure liquid hits the steel with so much force, it actually causes the metal to bend. It makes it easy to bend square tubing into a proper shape for an automotive frame.

Boxed hydroformed frames are the strongest, followed by two pieces of C Channel welded together to make a boxed frame, and then finally C channel frames. C channel is find for most purposes in reality though, boxed frames are nice to have, but add un needed weight and can trap water.

Yea, a buddy of mine is a fireman and they have a few recent model Ford built trucks they are having issues with.
They have a couple of trucks (not regular fire trucks, but emergency type vehicles and one set of for hazmat emergencies) that have been in with multiple engine problems and the hazmat truck is currently out of commission due to structural problems with the frame.
I've had a Ford Diesel truck, back in the beginning of my bass fishing days, bought used, and it was a tank, really low HP compared to today's diesels, but it pulled like hell and never had an issue, but the Cummins has always and probably will always be the class of HD truck engines. It's a shame that the Mopar trannies have never been on par with the Cummins, allowing to completely unleash it's capabilities. If I ever get another diesel, it will be a CTD but with a manual tranny.
Up until four or five years ago I would have said the Ford chassis was way better, but anymore, I'm not so convinced...

we have a ford, and f-350, 05 with the 6.0. like how it looks,a nd i think it performs pretty well and has a goood amount of power, but the front end is an issue. the ABS light goes on and off all the time. have yet to fix it and its been looked at by the dealer a few times and cant really find it. also the front end shakes. no warped rotors or anything, but at highway speeds ( a certain speed to be exact, dont know the numbers because i dont drive it all that often) but it begins this shake like the wheels are going to come off. my dads driven it and had to pull over because he thought it was going to fall apart. ford repalaced a few parts in the front end, its better, but still not completly fixed

thought i'd chime in about the "let's see how future cummins stack up against future powerstroke/duramax" I do emissions stuff at work and we hear stuff from sorts of diesel companies.

Cummins, it seems, is finding a way around using urea injection in Tier 4 light duty diesels (ram engines), likely by using some technicality to their favor. Powerstroke and Duramax will not be able to do the same. This is not set in stone or completely confirmed, but seems likely at this point. I don't know about you, but I'm going to want my diesel without a tank full of **** in it that needs to be refilled by the dealer.

Urea injection might also cause PS and DM some efficiency. Not sure about that, but it seems almost everything we do for emissions costs efficiency, this might do the same.
