Ford has the better chassis, the Cummins is a better engine for now. We'll have to see how the upcoming 6.7L Ford build Diesel performs. I like my Hemi better than I did my 5.4L as far as power is concerned.

There is nothing wrong with the Dodge chassis, the Ford is way overbuilt, heavy and sometimes too rigid. Off road, the ford frame will not flex. Fords weigh much more then Dodges, the front end parts wear prematurely, and get much worse fuel mileage than the Dodge. One of my neighbors owns his own HVAC company and has always used Fords as his fleet trucks. Front ends are always in need of attention and he gets around 12 mpg out of F-250's with diesels and 10 with 5.4L's. Not to mention that getting spark plugs out of 5.4l's is nearly impossible after 40k miles. The thread reach on the plugs is too long and carbon builds on the threads, then you either strip or break plugs when removing, which leads to head removal, at your cost, warranty wont cover tune ups.

I'll second the Ford frame front end problems.
My friends F350 diesel dually has had both front hubs, driveshafts and locking hub mechanisms replaced.
It was a nightmare as well.

Yeah, My Uncle has gone through 2 F-450's his latest one, a 07 or or f-450, overheated and had nothing but trouble with so far, so it overheated on a business trip, and had to be towed to a dealer, and the dealer kept the parts to fix it in stock cause it's a known problem. Unfortunately he ended up with his 07 f-450 after his old f-450 i don't remember what year it was, but it craped put on him (on a business trip) and they had to have it towed to a dealer, and it wasn't worth fixing, so he had to buy a new f-450, cause he was in the middle of nowhere, and if there was a dodger dealer around....lol ANd I know he always told me what a hunk of junk his old one was and all of the things that broke on it. but he tows a huge goose-neck horse trailer, so he needs it. I know he dislikes fords, he only owns a couple of them, and the rest of his vehicles(he owns many) are GM's. I don't know what to say about the frame, besides that I would never buy a ford. I have never been a ford guy, just a GM, and Chrysler guy. Just my $0.02!
