CAI, Cat-back exhaust and a tuner are where people usually start. But if you want real power then you are going to have to start playing in the gray area regarding warranty...

I would NOT go with a CAT BACK SYSTEM.

Personally I would just replace the restrictive parts on your system and leave the stock pipe alone. For the average 4.7L owner I would do the below mods for a noticeable gain in performance.

Replace:
FACTORY "Y"
FACTORY "MUFF"
FACTORY "HEADERS"

I dont recall the exact size exhaust systems each year 4.7L came from the factory with... BUT for best performance I do know the 4.7L responds extremely well to:

"HEADERS"
2.25" PRIMARIES
HIGH FLOW "Y" PIPE
SINGLE 3" system
"HIGH FLOW" 3" IN/OUT MUFFLER

Just remember HIGH VELOCITY... and a dual system will kill any if not all VELOCITY.

Air Ram, are you referring to just a true dual setup or the single- in dual-out muffler setups killing velocity as well?

I suggest a SINGLE 3" EXHAUST from a HIGH FLOW Y" to the tail tip.

The dual cat backs in many cases do tend to kill low end. I never heard of ANYONE complain about a single 3" system... because they ROCK!

Eh, it was okay. I recently sold it because I've got some mods in the works that'll need a custom tune. The stage 2 ain't a bad product, but it ain't great either. After awhile though, the PCM does learn to fight the chip. The jet chip did improve my fuel economy and shifted smoother, but to be honest, if you're gonna spend $200 on your truck, spend it on something else. It took me 4,000 miles to make back my money in fuel savings, and after about 9,000, the PCM had learned to fight it.

Which rear end gear do you have? How is it handling the load currently?
