What do I need (parts wise) to put a 07 hemi in place of a 04 in a 04 hemi qc 4x4? Thinking about picking up a spare, this one has low miles but I figure its got the MDS... the computer will be included with the engine.

 

I could be wrong, but I'm pretty sure putting an 07 MDS into an 04 Non-MDS is not a plug and play operation. You could eliminate the MDS stuff, then it's just like your original except for the ignition coils, but those can be adapted. I know they changed a bunch of stuff for the 06 when they came out with the MDS for the trucks.

 

if it's coming from a megacab or 2500, it won't have mds.

 

Donor is a 2wd 3/4 ton 2007.... I went to the Dodge website, seems the 2008 3/4 ton has MDS. Are you sure the 07 does not have MDS?

 

I might be wrong...I thought the 3/4 and 1 tons didn't use MDS.

Anyone know if/when it was changed?

 

According to my 2008 Ram pamphlet, MDS is only available on 1500 regular and Quad cab models.

 

I thought MDS was only avalible on the Ram 1500's.... that are not Mega Cabs.....

 

Hmmm... Website clearly states the 2008 2500 comes with MDS. See attached screen scrape. So the question is, does that 2007 engine have MDS or not... How do I tell? Anything visible on the exterior of the engine? I've never even looked at a mds engine.

 

I think that's a mistake in their site, because if you go to build your own, it doesn't have the MDS engine available. I also checked the dealers in my area online and looked at stickers and they don't list MDS like my sticker does.
