vibration certain speeds
I have a 2007 2500ram reg cab. At certain speeds whole truck vibrates, dealer has tried three sets of tires, 2new driveshafts and now they say this is normal for 2500s. Has anyone else had this issue?
Very, very all too common on 2500 series Dodge trucks. They probably say it's normal because A) it's a bi*ch to isolate and correct and B) it is so common.
Don't let the dealer cop out on you on this issue as it is potentially dangerous!
Do a search here for "Death Wobble" as that is what it's commonly called.
You can also Google it, as there is much that has been written about the issue...

it describes how a 'well trained' Chrysler service technician
will use the special tools:
Special tool OT-38793 "Electronic Vibration Analyzer Kit (EVA)"
Penstar tire balancer H-9702-DD-R (Hunter GSP 9700)
to track down and eliminate hard to find vibration

unfortunately,
not all 5 Star Chrysler dealerships have a really well trained tech on these tools even if the 5 Star rules require it, so you might have to hunt around yourself, or telephone your regional Chrysler Customer Representative to ask where he knows there is a skilled tech

Well, sometimes mistakes are made during construction of vehicles, even if it is mostly automated. You could get a vibration from your drivetrain even if it is a little off where it is supposed to be mounted. We have a new firetruck that is going out for that reason, another town over they had to flatbed theirs to Louisina becuase their pump was installed an inch off of its required spot. I know, most of these are hand built and blah blah blah but it goes to show if any part of the drivetrain is even slightly askew it was throw everything off. So, I guess the question is, has it always done this or is it a new development.
... I have a vibration at certain speeds as well..I was gonna say gears but that's usually a whine...i just had my wheels re-balanced and i re-torqued the lugs as well.. im gonna get my driveline balanced tomorrow...I think what it may come down to is pinion angle...it was bad a long while back so i kept adding shims and it went away, now it's re-appeared so i think I need to re-shim again. I wish I understood how to figure out correct angle (I see lotsa diagrams but it's all greek to me)..
