I have a 2007 Megacab 4x4 with 315/70/17's, 3.73's and LSD. I am thinking about doing a gear swap to 4.56's. Has anybody done this and if so how do you like the 4.56's and did you have any problems or issues I should be aware of? Also I've been told I do not need to change the carrier. I have 9.25 front and 10.5 rear American Axles for Both. Any info would be great!

 

I'd do it in a heartbeat. The selection isn't as good for the 10.5 rear, but they're out there. I've done a lot of performance mods, and this is probably the one that has been the most beneficial. Better acceleration, engine gets to "sweet spot" faster & stays there, less tranny searching and it doesn't work as hard (extending tranny life), better mpg in town. The only negative at all is you'll lose a mpg or two on the interstate, depending on how much over the speed limit you cruise at.
Just make sure you have a quality shop do the work. An bad install can be a disaster and it's not only a job for a mechanic, it's a job for a mechanic who routinely does gear swaps.
If the cash is there, do a better LSD in the rear while they are in there, it's a lot cheaper having it done all at once and the stock LSD in Dodge trucks is kinda cheazy...
