Default Ok, my turn to ask a question...

I almost never ask a question, not that I know more than anyone else. My MO is usually to funk up something a few times, then get it right.

A couple of months ago I snapped the drivers side pillar post getting into the truck. Well, I've had one in the box in the garage for well over a year, it's the kind with a hole in it for a gauge to be mounted in. Now for my question. I've decided to do it as a poll.

The tranny temp gauge is easy enough. I've put one in before, just had to drill & tap a hole in the pan. But I understand there is actually a bolt in the tranny pan made for one, so should be an easy install. Only thing is - I have the tow pkg. with aux. tranny cooler and I don't tow much anymore since I sold the bass boat. So I don't know how much I actually need a gauge.

The rear diff is also easy enough, plus I'd get one of the aftermarket covers with the bung in it already. I have aftermarket 4.56 gears, so it might not be a bad idea to have a temp gauge there.

The A/F ratio gauge may be the one that's of the most importance, not now, but down the road. I have planned on a cam (and springs, retainers, rods, etc.) for some time now and as soon as my families health situation gets better and I get back working regular, it'll be a go.
Only problem is that I'll have to buy some parts and the install is not as easy as the first two...

So, what do you guys think?

Rear diff temp gauge for now! Then later down the line the Air / Fuel Ratio Gauge. Might as well do something now that you can use now!

Man, who hasn't totally wrecked something a few times before getting it right. :-)) Even though you don't tow anymore, I'd vote for the tranny temp gauge. Always a good idea to know how it's dealing with whatever load it's under.

I read a vacuum gauge is a good one to have, you can use it to improve fuel economy by keeping it in a certain range... dunno what that range is. Like I said, I read it but have not applied it.

Less than two hours into this poll and it looks like every choice is gonna be represented. No wonder I couldn't decide which one to do...

Def the tranny gauge...then the a/f when you do internals. If the rear cover comes with a guage then awesome....I wouldn't pay extra for a cover with one though.

I'd go with the Air/Fuel Ratio gauge, the other two don't seem all that useful.
