Why in the hell do you all think every thing stay's the same in the auomotive world? Selling and building trucks is all a marketing game, Dodge, Ford, Gm could care less abought your loyality.

Dodge ram owners who buy a New Ram and keep it for 20 years are not helping Dodge.

Cost's go up. cost's go down, same with demand, The marketing wizards convince you need a truck, when perhaps you don't need one, MSRP jacks up the price way more than the product is worth, your dealer wants you to pay thier rent, your sales person want's you pay thier way, ect ect..

Than along comes high flue prices, and good god every one who dosent' need a truck whines abought the cost's of owning a truck.

Truck owners who use thier rigs to earn a living can write off thier expenses, Mommy and Daddy home depot crowd can't...

So, What do the marketing wizards do?, incentives, incentives, push the product out the door...

Truth be told, the 09 Ram is all ready old out of the gate, If your going whine abought depreaction, your best bet is not to buy anything new..

I'm not a samart guy, But I have learned the best material objects are the one's you can pay for, or budegt for, take care of, and plan for how much use you want out of them.

Doesn't bother me...I wouldn't have bought it in the first place if they wanted any where near MSRP.

If you're in the market for a new truck, you would be saying "Hey now, this is great". If you're not, it just sucks the value away for a sale. Anyone who pays anything near MSRP is just plain old crazy. Red

Agreed, I think it started with the second gens. The new design caught Ford & GM off guard and made Dodge a serious contender in the light truck segment really for the first time. The huge increase in sales gave them the opportunity to raise the MSRP to make the extra cash while the gettin' was good. When the gettin' started to be not so good they couldn't lower the MSRP and admit that the trucks were not worth their over-inflated price, so they started a trend to offer huge discounts. As sales (of all trucks, not just their own) continued to spiral, the discounts have continued to be greater and greater.
It's a true buyers market, but the only ones who are really in a position for big advantage are those who have the cash to buy without having to rely on a trade...

All of the dealerships around here are only offering trade-in prices based on what they will get at auction. Edmunds and Kelly Blue Book prices are worthless. They have all told me that they dont want used cars on the lot unless they can get high mpg and even then they are not keen. I just traded my wifes mint 2004 Montero Limited with 30K miles on it. I should have got 18K for it according to book. No dealer would offer us more that 13K against a new car. Its all about new car volumes. Im thinking about buying a new hemi truck or car at these silly prices and will put my 2003QC Hemi down at my vacation home. I wont trade any more cars at these silly prices.

I like the current prices on Dodge Rams. I got $15,000 off on one a month ago. I'm not looking to trade one in anytime soon. I just got really lucky that my Dakota died again when it did. Earlier in the year I couldn't trade it in and walk away with a new Ram.

Ford f150s around here are going even cheaper than the Rams.

Guys its not just Dodge, the United states is basically in a recession wether they want to say it or not, all big US auto makers GM-Ford-Dodge are all struggling, its no big secret. Jobs are being lost daily, vehicles companies have made for decades are on the chopping block, factories closing left in right in the US and Canada. All of these companies are having huge deals right now not because they want to but because they have to.

For me I just bought my truck and saved about 15,000 off the list price, I got lucky because I waited a year and wound up buying a truck during tough times for North America. It was like buying and selling stocks, when the stock market crashes the smart ones buy, for me it was luck but for some im sure they seen this coming. If your planning on driving the truck until it drops dead anyways I wouldnt even care, you got yourself a sweet ride, enjoy it. Put some options on it and keep the value up.

great timing on this post. Just today I took my best friend who's truck shopping back to the dealership I purchased my truck at in June. He's had no prior experiences with Mopar's. Talk about ridiculous discounts....he drove away in 2008 Quad Cab 4x4 that stickered for $34555 for only $19784...on the road, 6%tax title and fees included. WOW. He's happy as can be to say the least. Makes you wonder how much these trucks actually cost to build....I know it's all just shuffling paperwork for these dealers, but jeez. They're giving them away.
