Default Here is how I got rid of the dreaded muffler Drone.

To get rid of my drone in a non MDS HEMI, I had to go with a longer higher volume muffler. The shorter ones all droned for me. I went to 2 diferent custom exhaust shops. The first shopped didnt know how to get rid of drone. The second shop was a very old and experienced owner that said most mufflers are too small and short for a big V8. He was right because when he welded in the new longer IMCO muffler, the drone was gone accross the entire RPM. I was more than happy with the results.

IMC muffler without drone:

Longer mufflers are also quieter...so if you want to keep the volume but lose the drone you're out of luck.

How about the sound while crusing with the MDS on. Does it still sound like a fart box?

I installed TTI long tubes w/high flow cats, y-pipe, and JBA catback. Not liking the sound at all. While MDS is on sounds like my truck has a hole in the muffler. In reality its the bop bop bop sound that kills me. Freaking MDS.

very nice...what was the IMCO muffler part number for your truck? Is it a single muffler single in dual out with no resonator boxes?

My 2006 2500HD Hemi doesnt have MDS or resonators. RAM2500/3500 only has one large muffler similar to the 1500 Ram but no resonators. Cruising at highway speeds sounds quiet as stock. The IMCO muffler is a 1 in 2 out and it is about as long as the stock muffler. I dont know the part number but any IMCO performance shop would know what it is. Just ask for the biggest 1 in 2 out IMCO makes.
